ALAN BLACKLEY - Managing Director

Formerly the Managing Director of United Pacific Drilling (30 years with that company) with over 40 years experience in the exploration drilling business. He was a senior manager within the Asia Pacific division of Orica Explosives, and after disposing of the drilling interests on behalf of Orica, managed Chai International Development, the Orica owned explosives business in Thailand for 18 months, before taking retirement from corporate life. Managing QED is now a full time vocation and Alan’s passion to strive for excellence drives the business forward. For four years he was an elected Councillor on the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, an Organisation tasked with promoting mineral and petroleum development in Papua New Guinea.


TED MASZNIEW - Vice President Operations

Ted has over 37years experience in the mineral drilling business and has run the day to day operations of QED in the Philippines since its incorporation. He previously held a similar position with the Orica owned business in the Philippines and had previous worked in Papua New Guinea for a number of years. He has also worked in the Middle East, South America and China. His background includes a long stint in Australia working with rotary air tools, where he developed a strong reputation as a "gun" reverse circulation specialist.


RAMON SANTIAGO - President

Ramon worked for Orica Explosives for in excess of 30 years and was responsible for establishing, and managing the growth of Orica Explosives Philippines. He retired as CEO from this business in 2002 and now provides management expertise to QED in the Philippines, with an emphasis on ensuring the Orica inherited dedication to the Safety and Health of our employees is not diminished in any way. With his strong industry background and knowledge of the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region as a whole, he brings invaluable local knowledge strength to QED.


James Blackley - Country Manager (Indonesia)

James joined the Company in 2007 after a number of years working in Papua New Guinea, then consulting for companies such as Shell, BHP and Rio Tinto around the globe. James has worked in the mining /exploration industry for most of his career on both sides of the fence and his background in business improvement processes; contract and logistics management made him an ideal candidate to set up the Indonesian business. With the expansion of the Company over the last 3 years, James has also taken on a regional management role in PNG and the Solomons with a focus on strengthening core OHS and business principals.


John Sullivan - Business Development Manager

John has extensive experience with international civil, mining and exploration projects throughout the Asia Pacific Rim, Australia, Europe, and the African continent. His strong industry background and knowledge of the region in which QED operates, gives John a solid foundation for his role in promoting the QED brand in the region. John’s operational experience is tapped by each business as he travels the breadth of our operations.


Simon Mangos - Group Safety Manager

Only a new addition to the ranks in January this year, Simon has a wealth of experience in the mining, oil and gas and exploration fields working for Clients such as BHP Billiton, Origin Energy, Santos and Newmont. Armed with his formal training Bachelor of Applied Science in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, Simon possess the tools and experience to propel QED into the future. With extensive experience in the high safety standards required in Australia, Simon is well rehearsed with industry leading practices. Passionate about safety he brings real enthusiasm to the team to help drive QED from a strong performing company, to one that is an industry leader in safety performance.
